ARTS PDF Split & Merge Lite FAQs

1. When I attempt to merge PDF files using the control file method I get an error message. What does this error message mean?

You may get errors such as 'Control file is malformed' or 'The file x.pdf doesn’t exist. The reason for these errors may be one of the following:

  • You have moved or deleted a PDF file.
  • You have spelt the pathname of a file incorrectly.
  • You have used spaces instead of tabs.
  • You used quotes before/after the pathname.

2. Does ARTS PDF Split & Merge Lite work if all my files are stored on a network drive?

Yes, the majority of ARTS PDF Split & Merge Lite features work, even if your files are stored on a network drive. The only exception is the 'merge by control file' feature. The merging process will not work if any of your selected source files are stored on a network drive. They all must be stored locally.

3. There are some features disabled in the 'split file' dialog. How do I enable these?

The features that appear disabled within the 'split file' dialog are only available if you have ARTS PDF Aerialist X or ARTS PDF Aerialist X Pro installed. You may notice a note at the bottom of the dialog which says, 'Enhanced features are available in ARTS PDF Split & Merge Plus'. All features found in ARTS PDF Split & Merge Plus are now incorporated into two more powerful publishing tools - ARTS PDF Aerialist X and ARTS PDF Aerialist X Pro.

4. Does ARTS PDF Split & Merge Lite have a limit on the number of files it can merge together?

ARTS PDF Split & Merge Lite can merge together a maximum of 100 files. ARTS PDF Aerialist X and ARTS PDF Aerialist X Pro do not have a limit set on the number of files that can be merged together.

5. I am having a problem with ARTS PDF Split & Merge Lite and it is not covered in this list of FAQs. What can I do?
