1. I have successfully completed the ARTS PDF Aerialist installation. However, when I open Acrobat^®, no menu items appear under the 'plug-ins' menu. How do I rectify this?

Verify that the 'Use only certified plug-ins' option is unchecked from within Acrobat^®. Select Edit > Preferences > General > Start Up. After altering this setting, close and reopen Acrobat^®. Menu items for ARTS PDF Aerialist should now be visible.

2. I am trying to build bookmarks in my document based on heading styles. Some of my headings span across multiple lines. ARTS PDF Aerialist creates a separate bookmark for each line of my heading. Can this be fixed?

Ensure that you are using the latest version of ARTS PDF Aerialist (1.2). This version includes a multi-lined headings feature. When building bookmarks, check the 'multi-lined headings' option. This will create a single bookmark for text that spans across multiple lines of a page.

3. Are there any limits to the number of tools or toolbars I can create with ARTS PDF Aerialist?

For performance reasons, there is a limit of 20 toolbars loaded at a time and a limit of 100 tools per toolbar. If you want to keep your tools or toolbars, but keeping them will exceed the limit, use the export feature to save those tools or toolbars that you don't regularly use and just import them when needed.

4. How do I create an ARTS PDF Aerialist tool to execute a JavaScript?

• Choose Plug-ins > ARTS PDF Aerialist > Productivity, select your toolbar name and click 'Add or Remove Tool'.
• Click 'New' to create a new tool.
• In the 'Edit Tool Properties' dialog box, enter the name of the tool, menu text and tooltip.
• Select the 'Execute JavaScript' command in the left pane and click 'Add'.
• Enter the JavaScript to execute and then click 'OK'.
• Click 'OK' to apply the changes and create the tool.
• To execute the JavaScript tool, select the tool name on the menu bar or the tool button icon on the toolbar.

5. When I attempt to merge PDF files using the control file method I get an error message. What does this error message mean?

You may get errors such as 'Control file is malformed' or 'The file x.pdf doesn't exist. The reason for these errors may be one of the following:

• You have moved or deleted a PDF file.
• You have spelt the pathname of a file incorrectly.
• You have used spaces instead of tabs.
• You used quotes before/after the pathname.
